“Lord, I’m available to you. We are not our own, we are bought with a price.” These are words that Evangelist Ida Martin, Founder and President of the Women for Christ Community Outreach, truly believes and lives by. As God gives visions to His children, it is their responsibility to follow through. Subsequently, it has been Ida’s vision to be used by God and to show someone “The Way”. The Women for Christ Community Outreach is a result of Ida’s sincere belief that women from all denominations and cultures need to come together to work not only in the church but also in our communities. In addition to monthly meetings and fellowships, the ministry is also committed to visiting two convalescent homes; one adult and one children. Her outreach brings gifts to each of the rest homes monthly and on holidays. Moreover, the Lord laid it upon Ida’s heart to have an Annual Holistic Ministry Day where Women for Christ serves over 500 people with resource literature, clothes, toys, and food.
Evangelist Martin is a woman who is constantly “about her Father’s business.” Over twenty-five years ago, the Lord put it on Ida’s heart to start Women for Christ, which would serve as an encouragement and witnessing forum/or women. As a result, the Women/or Christ Fellowship has helped many young women strengthen their faith and develop a more personal relationship with Christ.
Ida Martin has always faithfully worked at Greater Victory COGIC in the City of San Bernardino for over 40 years. Demonstrating the training she received under the leadership of her mother, Evangelist Essie Herndon, Ida has served in various positions, which include the following: Sunday School Teacher, Purity Class President, YWCC, Usher Board President, District Youth Chairlady, Volunteer Mission member, and the Inspirational choir.
Evangelist Martin is currently the First Lady of Greater Victory Church of God in Christ, where her husband, Superintendent Dr. George A. Martin, is Pastor. They specialize in Couples Ministry. In addition to this, Ida serves as the Supervisor of the Women’s Ministry, and serves as an executive church administrator. Ida also owns her own business, “Ida’s Baskets and Things,” As of November 2018, she was officially installed as the Jurisdiction Supervisor of Women for California Southern Third Jurisdiction under Bishop Roger Thomas.
This only begins to introduce you to Ida. The Lord has performed many miracles in her life, including being delivered from thyroid cancer, healed from having her vocal cords removed, and God restored her voice. Her testimony is truly that of a life directed by God and a woman who loves Christ. She has been married for over 40 years and has six children, eight grandchildren, and 11 nanites.
